The Best Places in Disney World to Cool Down During the Summer HEAT!

how to stay cool in the hot florida sun during your disney world vacation

Welcome back, Disney friends! Today, we’re talking about something every summer guest at Walt Disney World NEEDS to know…the best places to cool down when the Florida sun turns into a fire-breathing dragon.

Whether you’re park-hopping with kids or sipping a Space Coffee solo, these spots will save you from all those unwanted sweaty drips running down your back and every other part of you. So grab your Minnie ears and let’s chill out for a bit…

Magic Kingdom:

The place that holds the most magic of all the magic…

1. Mickey’s PhilharMagic
You’re looking at 10-15 minutes of utterly glorious air-conditioning. The show featrues cool 3D effects, and classic Disney songs. Bonus? Typically there are not long waits, even on those super busy days.

2. The Hall of Presidents
It’s history-heavy, but it’s also dark, cool, and over 20 minutes long. A great place to rest those tired feet. I really love this one and just think it is always a great reminder!

EPCOT:

EPCOT—which some people think is the hottest park on the planet due to all the concrete!

1. The Seas with Nemo & Friends Pavilion
Ride the attraction, then explore the massive air-conditioned aquarium. There are benches, AC, and educational displays. Win-win-win.

2. American Adventure Show
A/C and 30 minutes of sitting. Trust me, this feels like luxury in the middle of July.

3. Club Cool
Free soda samples from around the world + blasting air conditioning. Yes, Beverly is still there… and yes, it’s still terrible.

Hollywood Studios

As home to what I refer to as the hottest strip on earth, that walkway that takes you by the former MuppetVision 3D on your way to Rise of the Resistance, Hollywood Studios really brings the heat! It gets my vote for THE hottest park of all but also some of the best places to escape it. PLUS, there are two brand new options!

1. Walt Disney Presents
Walk-through museum with low crowds, nice AC, and it is great for a little quiet time. Plus, you can move at your own pace as you explore. One of my FAVORITES!

2. NEW: The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure
Relive Ariel’s enchanting story in this dazzling theatrical production inspired by the animated classic The Little Mermaid…..in the AC!

3. NEW: Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After
Behold a fiendishly funny and fantastical stage show starring iconic Disney villains… who are feeling unfairly treated…..again, in the AC.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Last but not least—Animal Kingdom. Possibly the most beautiful park, due to all the foliage and humidity it can still get hot but there is plenty of opportunity for shade!

1. Festival of the Lion King
An amazing show and one of the best AC breaks in the park. Get there early for good seats so you can soak in the atmosphere and the cool air.

2. Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond!
Broadway-style show in an air-conditioned theater? Yes, please. DON’T miss this one!

3. Conservation Station
The train ride itself is breezy, and the building is cool and full of interesting things to explore. you get an in-depth look at animal habitats around the globe and see the expert veterinary care the Disney animals receive. It really is a fun way to slow things down a bit!

Cool-Down Tips

Alright, time for bonus tips:

  • Take advantage of mobile ordering to snag indoor quick service dining, when available.
  • ALWAYS take a refillable water bottle – you can even fill it with ice in the morning and sip as it melts. Plus, there are plenty of refill stations around the parks to refill for FREE, as needed.
  • Pack a portable fan or cooling towel—seriously, they’re lifesavers.
  • Just SIT DOWN and REST! Seriously…..there are so many places to take a little break in the shade. It really is fun to sit back and take it all in, too!

So there you have it—your guide to surviving the Florida heat at Disney World. Remember, staying cool = staying magical. Don’t let the weather zap your fun. Got more tips? A hidden AC gem? Slide into our DMs and let us know! Until then, stay cool, stay hydrated, and as always—have a magical day!
