Welcome back! Today we’re diving into a topic that’s extra close to my heart: planning a Disney anniversary trip. Whether it’s your 1st or your 25th, there’s nothing quite like celebrating your love in the most magical place on Earth. So let’s talk timelines, resort vibes, park strategies, romance, and all the little extras that make it unforgettable.
Some people dream of Paris. Some go for a cabin in the mountains. But if you’re reading this, chances are your heart is Mickey shaped.
Here’s why Disney is actually a perfect anniversary destination:
- There’s something for every type of couple: thrill-seekers, foodies, nostalgia-lovers, and spa people alike.
- You can go big with deluxe resorts and signature dining… or keep it cozy and budget-friendly.
- And honestly? There’s nothing like watching fireworks with your person, knowing you’ve made it through another year of life together.
Let’s talk about the first big decisions: when and where.
Timing Tips:
- Off-season months like September, early November, or late January tend to be less crowded—and cooler.
- Check for special events! EPCOT festivals, holiday parties, or even runDisney races can add fun or chaos, depending on your vibe.
- We actually visit on our Anniversary, which is in July and while it is hot, there’s something special about being in Disney on our actual Anniversary day. It also works well with our kids’ schedules.
Resort Picks for Romance:
- Disney’s Yacht Club or Beach Club – peaceful, beautiful, and right next to EPCOT (hello, date night at World Showcase or BoardWalk!).
- Grand Floridian – An absolute classic with such a soft romantic feel.
- The Polynesian – tropical, stunning, and you can watch fireworks from the beach.
- Port Orleans Riverside – charming, romantic, and perfect for couples on a moderate budget.
Want to splurge? Try booking a fireworks-view room or a specialty suite. Want to save? Stay value and go all out on dining and experiences instead.
This is where the magic gets personal.
Dining Tips:
- Book one signature dinner. Think California Grill (fireworks views), Le Cellier (cozy, romantic), Topolino’s Terrace (sunset heaven) and one of our favorites, Garden Grill (cozy garen vibes?? haha!).
- Don’t sleep on lounges! Wine Bar George, Nomad Lounge, or even Trader Sam’s can be more romantic than big restaurants. Maybe snag a reservation for Geo 2!
- Use Mobile Order for casual meals to avoid hangry arguments.
Extra-Special Experiences:
- Capture Your Moment photo sessions (yes, a private photo shoot in the parks!)
- Spa day at The Grand Floridian
- Fireworks cruise – private boats with snacks and your own little floating moment…This one is my Dream!
- Or something simple, like wearing matching “Happily Ever After” buttons and letting the magic find you.
So how do you actually do Disney as a couple without turning it into a race across four parks?
Tips:
- Don’t overschedule. Build in breaks, pool time, and sleeping in.
- Let each person pick one or two “must-do” per day—then build the day around that.
- Skip the pressure of seeing and doing everything. Instead, focus on moments. Let the magic lead you!
Our personal favorite day? Sleep in late and then hit Hollywood Studios for coffee from Kat Saka’s Kettle and then some of our favorite rides. Lunch at Magic Kingdom’s Liberty Tree Tavern and maybe a few attractions, followed by a nap at the resort, Animal Kingdom until it closes and then dinner at Garden Grill and fireworks in EPCOT. Perfection.
Okay, last few things to make it extra special:
- Pack something cute for photos. Even if you don’t usually dress up—this is the moment. Dress Disney Fancy. Try character bounding, if you don’t normally.
- Bring or buy a small gift to surprise your partner during the trip.
- Create a custom MagicBand or ornament with your anniversary date.
- And don’t forget to ask for celebration buttons! Cast Members love to sprinkle some pixie dust. Always tell your servers when you are dining!
Because yes, Disney is for kids. But it’s also for the kid in you and the grown-up love that keeps choosing each other, year after year.
That’s it for today. If you’re planning your own magical anniversary or you’ve taken one already, comment below or tag us in your favorite Disney couple photos on social. I want to see all the love and Mickey ears! Until next time… keep dreaming, keep planning, and keep celebrating the magic in your life.
Stay Magical!
