A Perfect Day in Disney’s Animal Kingdom

I always feel the need to make it clear that a great Disney Day is different for everyone. What our family enjoys is very different from the next family. Even what we enjoy on a couples trip is different from what we enjoy when it is the whole family. BUT, so many people ask about our favorite things so I decided on a series of Our Perfect Days. Here is what a perfect day in Animal Kingdom looks like for our family:

I like to place a day at Animal Kingdom somewhere mid trip as it is an easier park. Shockingly, step one is: Rope Drop. I am typically not a Rope Drop Girlie but I make an exception for my beloved Animal Kingdom because I love an early morning Safari! But first, Rope Drop Flight of Passage! ROPE DROP FLIGHT OF PASSAGE. This is a ride that I love but the wait time consistently stays super high. So, we hit up Flight of Passage and then since the animals are so active in the early hours of the day, we head straight over to the Kilomanjari Safari. The animals are out and about so much more before they start to take shelter from the Florida sun later in the day. I love getting to ride through there early to maximize the sightings.

By now, I need another coffee so we grab an iced coffee and take in the sights and sounds of the street band! After such an active morning, I like to go explore the Tree of Life. I am pretty sure we still haven’t found some of the 300+ carvings on the tree but we love strolling around looking for them every time.

Then, make our way to Dinosaur (for now!) especially since it will be extint soon 🙁 Dinosaur is one of our all time favorites for the entire family. We have some amazing memories on this ride with our littlest littles all the way up to the grandparents. We LOVE Dinosaur. But, we also love Indiana Jones so we aren’t crying too hard!

After we Go Get That Dino! We like to make our way to Tusker House, our favorite dining option for a late lunch. Tusker House is character dining experience so we get to spend some time with our friends and get some cute pictures with Minnie and Daisy while eating as much as we want of the tastiest African insired flavors!

To recover from stuffing ourselves silly, we take in Feathered Friends in Flight. Feathered Friends in Flight is a stage show presented in the Anandapur Theatre in the Asia area of Animal Kingdom. You’ll get a look at how the birds in the park are cared for and how each species contributes to our planet’s ecosystem. You’ll see some amazing tricks and maybe even get to participate, if you want!

From there, we love to stop into some shops and take in the sights around the park. Animal Kingdom is a really easy park day. It feels so much less crowded and more laid back to me. It is fun to just walk around and take it all in. We usually talke a walk through the Maharajah Jungle Trek. If the lines are short, we will hit up Na’vi River Journey and Kali River Rapids, if I can talk my Park Prince into that one. It has to be at the end of the day so we can head straight back to the resort and change.

We catch the Tree of Life Awakening. I love when the timing works out for this one. It is such a majestic show, highlighting the carvings and the different animals. Then, we head back to the resort early, where we usually grab a little bit to eat or sometimes grab a treat on the way out of the park. Then, maybe explore the resort for a little while before getting some probably much needed sleep at this point in our vacation so we will be well rested for the remaining trip!
