Disney World VQ Updates

GOTG Cosmic Rewind

A couple of updates were announced today about some popular rides at WDW. Guardians of the Galaxy and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Both will be Virtual Queue through February 24th. Beginning February 25, 2025, both rides will no longer have a VQ option. Guests will be able to experience Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and Guardians of the Galaxy via a standby queue, Lightning Lane Multi Pass or Lightning Lane Premier Pass.

So, how will this impact wait times? Walt Disney World has implemented virtual queues for some of its other popular attractions in the past, including Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. Those virtual queues have since been dropped and the rides now have standby queues and are available through LL options (ala cart for ROTR). Both have pretty long wait times the majority of the time but not unmanageable. If you don’t want to invest in a Lightning Lane, you can still enjoy GOTG and Tiana’s. I imagine initially, those lines will be quite long but they will level out over time. You can always rope drop a ride or keep a close eye on the app to determine the best time of day to jump in line. While I prefer a VQ, I also know it still meant waiting in line. It was more of an appointment for what time you would begin you wait. So, you still had to put on your patient pants!
